Nephrology

The Division of Nephrology is committed to the care of infants and children with a wide range of acute and chronic renal and urological diseases including nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, hematuria, proteinuria, renal failure, hypertension, fluid and electrolyte disorders, urinary tract infection, and a variety of congenital renal and urinary tract diseases. This Division has four physicians, one physician assistant, two nurse coordinators and a renal dietitian and social worker helping to provide the highest quality of care to children on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, plasma exchange and pheresis. Members of the Division work closely with the Hartford Transplant staff, and follow their allograft recipients on a regular basis. Besides daily nephrology clinics at the Connecticut Children’s, patients are also seen at a satellite facility in Shelton, Farmington and Fairfield.

The physician members of the division are active in teaching the pediatric residents and other trainees at the renal clinics and inpatient services.
